Removing Airbag compatible bullbar - any negatives?

Ex Ambo came with a very nice airbag compatible bullbar. Lots of logical and aesthetic reasons to remove it. I do no night driving on bull infested roads anymore and a little less mass up front is a desirable thing. Anything I should be aware of it I remove the bullbar? Just being careful in case someone knows something I have not thought of.

I would suggest getting in touch with the company who did the conversion there should be a conversion sticker on it some where , they will be able to tell you if the airbag deployment software has been changed to compensate for the bar . There is accompany at Geebung who do them but I cannot remember their name , I went there once and saw all the emergency vehicles being worked on . That's if it was converted here it could be a NSW one .

Nah, that doesn't happen with VW.

Hence why you can't buy a genuine one.

There's nothing stopping you from removing it.

Read the stickers, Fool (A-team reference). Conversion was done in NSW, bar was constructed and supplied by a QLD company. I'll ring the bar manufacturer tomorrow. Should be a simple question to answer. Another person has suggested that an airbag compatible bar is certified that the crumple zones will work as designed. It is the deformation in the crumple zones that triggers the airbags by breaking a frangible switch, supposedly. Frangible switch technology is used in crashing aircraft situations and I think VW might be a bit more updated than that. Accelerometers are the go these days, aren't they? And they would talk to the computer?
