That tyre in the OP looks like it's well and truly on the wear indicators anyway, but I agree that an alignment would have avoided that.

Either I've been lucky (over 130,000km) or my tyre place was doing an alignment for me as my wear has always been pretty even. Now that I'm in another state though I'll have to make sure it's looked at properly.
