I find it annoying out on a job site, but not as annoying as a flat battery.
Hi guys a silly question do the VW T5.1 's have a timer delay with the factory radio , when the van is on accessory the radio shuts down after five minutes is this normal ? Obviously does not do it with ignition on .

Thanks Umai I knew there was a delay but as this is an aftermarket I suspect that it has the wrong can bus decoder , I fitted the same unit as this one myself a few months ago and had the same thing . I was lucky as the unit was a replacement one under warranty and the supplier did not ask for the old wiring loom so I got the decoder from that one and it works fine . So it seems that there may be different decoders from the suppliers so I have emailed them with the part number . I agree flat batteries are a bummer but I have an off switch for the ampifiers so the head unit will only run two extra speakers from its own built in amp and it will run for ever without a problem .
Without digging up old notes, I suspect the timer, per se, is in the Central Electrics Module, and separate of that, for the CAN network.
Interior lights are the same deal. Mine additional ones will shut off after a while, but cycling the switch will get them going again. These would be managed by the central Electrics also.

I suspect that the issue is that the suppliers have two different decoders for several model VW's and they have just mistakenly supplied the wrong one which does not suit the T5 but maybe works with the other models that this unit fits also .
