I'm only a new owner, but my pedal does the same thing. Goes down part way then gets much stiffer. I thought it was a way of encouraging more efficient driving. Stand on it if your really need to move but the consumption goes way up.
In my kombi beach the accelorator pedal goes down freely until it gets to what I gather is the kickdown switch position, then it becomes much firmer, but will still go down even further until it reaches the stop or full travel. This is disconcerting on the open road as you dont know if or when you are using full pedal or when the kickdown is meant to work. For all I know the extra travel after it becomes firmer may do nothing.
Can someone with a T5 multivan or transporter comment on whether this is normal and if their van does this behaviour as I am not sure if my pedal is working correctly.
Thanks
Brian

Thanks for checking, you could be right about the reason.

I sometimes think I have it down hard then realise that is got that extra bit to go. Its probably a good thing it does it...... especially if you remember there is that bit of extra power on tap if you need it.

My new Multivan does the same.
