    Privacy screens/curtains

    Hi all,
I use my T5 crewvan for camping etc. Any ideas/suggestions regarding some sort/type of curtain/screen for the rear & side glass area? Hopefully without drilling too many holes, doesn't have to be a permanent fixture? Open to any ideas. Thanks

Have you looked into the vinyl signage material you see this on cars vans these days to advertise on it can be printed with any colour design . I have it on the rear and side windows of my work van for advertising you can see out but cannot see in as its hundreds of tiny holes . Have a look here it is the place that did my T5 click photo bottom right hand corner page 1 Gallery Vehicle Wraps and More

You could try using cloth screens held on with strong magnets like the kombi beach is supplied with, they have small bar magnets sewn into the seam. Not sure where you can get these kits from, maybe ebay internationally or even from VW, or you could easily make your own.

I made some up out of Silver roofing insulation. This was the air bubble stuff with silver either side. I got some hemming tape and stitched it to the edges to seal it. Then put an eyelet in each corner so I could fit some suction caps.
They work pretty well. They store down the side of the seat and were quite cheap to make.

    Hi Rob.
Here is the post I made re this issue in 2012.
Buy from this bloke in the UK.
    Brilliant service and product.

For the members out there who are sick of the poor availability of items in Oz, I can vouch for Vee Dub Transporters in the UK. I got fast, courteous service from Simon on a curtain and rails purchase, after other companies on the UK lists failed to reply to my request for info on their overseas sale policy, or didn’t follow up with the sale. His postage was £30 cheaper than the company who quoted me £95 but didn't follow up to make the sale.
I hope he does well from the Australain members, and I will provide his details. www.veedubtransporters.co.uk

Peter, thanks for Jan's details. I have contacted him re the van liners, which he has, but the last 4 days here have been out of control, so I'll contact him in the next few days.

    Best wishes all.

I have curtains that run around the entire interior for privacy when camping. Also handy for shading the interior on sunny days. Rails, similar to these Mini Curtain Track LOW Profile Bendable 4 Mobile Home Caravan Boat Camper VAN in Scone, NSW | eBay have been screwed above the windows. You can then make curtains in the colour and size that you like. To fit onto runners is a simple matter of sewing a special strip along the top of the curtain that holds the hangers at equal spacing. The strip and hangers can be bought at retail outlets such as Spotlight.

Here is an example of what I'm referring to. When not in use they are held to one side using a Velcro tie.
