Anyone??
I have a power steering hose with a hole in it from where it passes the oil cooler and has rubbed through. Are these easy to remove? Does anyone have any tips to remove this hose? I can't seem to see if there is a connection to undo where the hose goes from rubber to metal.... I can see the bolt/nut on top of what I think is the pump.

The hose from the reservoir has a spring clamp at the connection on the pump,
The pressure hose has a banjo fitting (hex), with copper seal washers that you should
be careful not to lose if undoing hex banjo bolt.
Definitely the pressure hose. Any tips on removing?

Usually you would pull the front into the Service Position for these types of jobs to make it easier,
but you might be able to do it from underneath if you remove the front engine support. Having
repair experience would be a great benefit , if not then see your trusted mechanic.

you can see the engine support in this pic. BTW, these pics are with the front right off.
Well, I managed to change this hose from underneath. It was tight and trying at times. The Bango was the most difficult to do back up as there is basically no room to move and hold a washer on the underside. Finally I decided to unbolt the oil cooler and them there was enough room to get my hand in there and be able to move. Had to undo an exhaust bracket to get the hose out and back in. Surprisingly, it was easier to get back in than it was to get out. I took the hose to Pirtek and they made me a new hose in 45 mins for $135. Cost me a total of $240 including a few tools. An independent VW shop Estimated they would charge between $420 & $500. VW quoted $430 just for the hose and would take 2-3 weeks to get one. So after all this it took most of the day including getting the part made, stopping to look after 2 of our kids for a couple of hours, losing some skin and a few swears I am pretty happy. And it doesn't leak! I think the hose wore through because it rubbed on an oil cooler hose connection. The cooler was replaced a while ago by a mechanic(not the one mentioned above) who couldn't work out what was wrong when the injector loom had a fault....

Job well done.
