    Opinions wanted please

    Hey peoples...
I've been pulling apart the dash trims etc...
Wanna see what you all have done to update the dash..
I am stuck between plastidip/spray paint or vinyl wrap for all the black trims and vents..
    Looking forward to your input.
    Pics for referance...

Painting would be a disaster as you need pristine surfaces for to stick , after all these years the trims would have absorbed all sorts of things sweat cleaners etc plus those parts get a bit brittle and pouros . Plasti Dip would be the best option as at least it can be wrapped around the edges during the process , vinyl wrapping will also end in disaster because it needs a good clean surface and all those internal corners would be a bitch to do .

I've done nothing to mine...even after 17 years. The only internal mods have been a gearstick extension, dash mat, canvas seat covers, floor mats and a centre console between the front seats that I've never finished!

Well, they sure are ugly examples!
I have scrubbed mine with degreaser and hot water as seen on youtube..............worked a treat.

I'll be building a centre console... need somewhere to put drinks!
Just wanna update it is all... only looking to do the vents, centre console facia and Speedo surround.
I've already pulled apart the dash.... so may as well keep going with it...
But it would be the last time I rip it out!

I think you would need to pick a colour style that suits the rest of the interior colour or a particular theme , as a motor trimmer for over 50 years I have seen some colour schemes that I have shook my head over . The beige brown combo in that first shot is awful against the grey trim , it would only work if the whole inside were to match . The plasti dipping would give you more options for colours etc , not like the second photos thats just as hideous . But in the end you have to live with what you choose so just ignore what I have said I don,t want to put you off what you decide . The problem with the Transporters is they only had that workman grey interiors so its a bit hard to do something that matches . Red or Blue or Black would be ok but at least put some other colour around the inside so it all works , you have seen my sons one and the Red was a homage to the Honda MX bikes we ride , I carried the red theme right through the van but left the dash untouched except for a grey dash mat .

Yeah Sunny, seen your sons and like the ford xr seat material to match it all in..

    Was thinking of....

    Candy red
    Candy / royal Purple
    Copper metallic

Since the rear is to transport Dirt Bikes i will eventually install a befmefier sound system (Just enough for the long haul) but will also use the colours in the back

I presume you ment Beefier sound system ? yes they are a big van and you need some serious amps to fill with music . Sound deadening is key to getting good sound or the music will be drowned out by road noise etc , all our vans are very quiet inside so there is no need to talk loudly to hear each other . We fitted two amps one bridged for the subs and then another two channel amp for the tweeters and mid range speakers , but I am a 67 year old fart who still hasen,t grown up and love my music loud and with feel .
