Online VW service manuals - ERWIN headache

    Hi everyone,

I have been trying for some time without success to view and print the electrical circuit diagrams for my 2005 T5 van (3.2L V6 petrol - 7H series) on the Erwin germany website for VW service manuals.

The Erwin Germany website has specific software requirements that need to be met to view all VW model specific information, as some PDF files are sealed and can only be read with special software. Apparently they are in the process of converting all files to simple PDF files that can be read with Acrobat Reader (the sooner the better).

After following the step by step instructions on how to install the software on your computer, I can still not get the software installed correctly. The website has a 'test software requirements' link under the 'FAQ' section on the left hand side menu. By clicking this link you are suppose to see a VW logo if you have installed all the software required successfully. I have installed Oracle IRM Desktop version 5.5 (installation instructions in german..), Acrobat Reader 8.3x and SVG Viewer and I am using the latest version of Internet Explorer. Also I disabled the antivirus software.

I have asked Erwin tech support for assistance but I have not got anywhere further with sorting out the software issues.

Is there anyone who has had any luck viewing all of the document on the Erwin website that might be able to help me view the documents I am after. The Erwin USA website seems much more user friendly but this does not help me as the Transporter was not sold in the USA.

    Thanks!

You may need to select "Compatibility View" in your browser...

Thank you all for your pointers.

I am running Internet Explorer (Version 8.) with Windows XP (Service Pack 3). I checked the Microsoft website to see if I had done everything correctly to enable Cookies, Javascript and Pop-ups. Until today, I knew nothing about the 'compatibility view' with Internet Explorer. I tried enabling this function from the tool menu, but the VW logo is still a no show.

    Any other ideas gentlemen?

Has anyone accessed Erwin recently and seen the VW logo under the FAQ, section 8, when they click on the link ''test system requirements'? It says if you don't see the VW logo, you haven't installed the sealed media player properly - i.e. Oracle IRM desktop. So maybe there are some special settings to select for this software. I translated the german when the installation was complete, and the translation was that the install was complete.

    Thanks again for your assistance.
