    New van options - Crewvan.

Talking to salesman at my servicing VW dealer I enquired about a Crewvan Tdi400, lwb, wing doors, dsg and awd. Told that no go on lwb/awd although no probs on swb/awd Crewvan Tdi400. Anyone know the technical reason as I was just excited to learn you can order a Crewvan with wing doors, which wasn't possible in '07 and 2nd row factory seats are much better then aftermarket.

Hope you know what you're doing with the wing doors. My old van with wing doors rattled like blazzers. I love the tail gate rear door on my new one (well, new to me). Its huge and a great place to get changed under after going for a surf in the rain. Brilliant. My after-market rear seat is great too. In the same fabric, folds to two positions, seat belts and head restraints for 3 passengers.

Err. I've had wing doors for 15 years, never a rattle or shake...and forklifts like them much more then tailgates when loading a 1000Lt IBC into the rear, lol.

Horses for courses Tornado. Yep, if you have to put a pallet in the back, a tailgate would be useless. It appears you know what you're doing, and its best for you. I'll butt out and go back to surfing and camping, where the tailgate is a perfect solution.

It could be down maximum load that the LWB van could carry, since the 4Motion can carry much less than FWD, so making the 4Motion LWB would mean that it could carry even less. Other than that only the difference in 4Motion SWB and 4Motion LWB is the longer tail shaft. I may be wrong though (I didn't check the availability in OS).

There's no technical reason why one can not get an LWB/4Motion Crewvan since the DOKA is LWB and available in 4motion with a high load capacity too.

The reason is probably Volkswagen Oz. They either haven't done the compliance to get such a beastie imported or haven't bothered putting them on the order sheet on the presumption of limited sales. The latter might mean that you could put the pressure on to VWoA to see if they could do a special order...

Trust me, I'd rather be surfing and camping then loading forklift loads into the van, and you can never butt in, so please don't butt out, lol

I guess one way of checking is having a go at the configurator website of VW Germany and see if I can choose that combo...hope I don't get lost in the translation.

The Poms have what you want but it appears the Transporter Kombi LWB doesn't get a 4motion driveline option...but the plain LWB panel van does. How odd!

And fiddling on the German site
Konfigurator < Transporter Kombi < Modelle < Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge
shows I can actually order a LWB Kombi (Crewvan) with 7spDSG, 4motion and 2-3 seat arrangement so I guess it's more down to local divisions possibly certifying select combo's based on sales predictions.
