    New t5 comfortline queries

Hi I am considering buying a new 340 multivan as they have drive away prices for under 50 grand at the moment. Looking to buy from Cricks automotive group. If we service the car with them they warranty the car for a further 3 years after the original warranty or up to 200,000ks

So anyway, anything I should be aware of with the current model both good and bad potentially, I currently have a t5 multivan I bought new in late 2007. Also, anyone have any dealings with the crick group etc.

    thanks

Cricks have taken over Highway VW here in Brisbane I have only dealt with their spare parts division , but I have not seen any negative reports about them on Volkswagen Australia Facebook page its a good guide on how different dealers handle any complaints . There are some reports on The Brickyard as you can imagine with the whole of Europe contributing you will get a wider view of any problems being seen over there Late model T5 problems still exist? - The Brick-yard - Page 1

We have the first of the facelifted T5GP's (2010 model) and in 100k we have had two issues. A Turbo part went pop and was replaced next business day under warranty and after pointing out some clicking from the front end during a service they also replaced the CV's under warranty (and some day service to boot!).

Otherwise the only complaint I have is that the sliding doors don't want to lock open unless you are *very* gentle sliding them into the locking mechanism. (Personally I think it's the spring giving up after 4 years of constant use but need to get some time to pull it out and see if I can source a replacement).

We love our Van and still don't know if we want to downsize or keep it now that the kids are getting a little bigger.

We have the same model only the 103 engine I would agree no real issues so far other than bad door fitment and two "false neutral " occurrence's and a faulty seatbelt retractor. But we have only 22.000 kays up so far . Hawk you did well to get some action so fast , for me just to get the seat belt replacement approved took an 80 km round trip two weeks before it went in for service and then they were rather late on the day finishing the van off . I made them log in the records the DSG hiccup as after the last fiasco with our 2004 T5 Tiptronic disaster I will be watching the DSG like a "Hawk " {sorry about the pun } . Yes I have loved all of our vans as we have 3 T5's at the moment and my sons older T4 which is up for sale . My only beef is with some of the technology that modern car makers fit into the cars these days not all of it is reliable here in Australia particularly .

We have a late 2012 TDI340 the only fault so far has been with the retractable blinds in the sliding doors having horizontal white markings across them. Both blinds were replaced (eventually) under warranty. Might be worth while lifting all the blinds to make sure, we didn't discover the fault for some time simply because we hadn't 'used' the blinds.

My local VW dealership was total balls when they were all wrapped up with the larger dealership service centre... then they moved down the other end of the yard with their own dedicated facilities including shiny new showroom and service centre. Since then they have been totally fantastic. (Paul Wakeling Volkswagen if you're wondering).

The CV's were total luck, they were going to need a return visit to get the parts but happened to get them in nice and early so I lucked out on that one.

Thanks for the replies folks. I have searched far and wide to justify not buying the multivan after previous geabox issues. Everything else good though, however I simply can't find anything else relavent. I looked at the tarago v6, but drive away, your needing another 6-7 grand over the current price of 50 large for the comfortline. I need the size, so the new Honda is out as the middle seats and also rear 3 seats are simply too narrow for 3 genuine adult size. I would buy an imax but with all the deficiencies in terms of lack of curtain air bags etc its a no go zone. The other thing is that Cricks VW in Maroochydore offer the 6 year 200000 klms warranty if serviced with them, which is a huge bonus as aftermarket warranties are worth 3-4 grand normally and I certainly would want one after my last gearbox problems.

Anyway that's the state of play, so my wife tells me.

Sounds like Cricks have certainly got their act together , I wish Brisbane dealers could be as good .I suppose they may have built the extra warranty into the selling price would be interesting to do a comparison .

They are selling the comfortline for 49990 and they have capped price servicing etc. I have not really seen any dealers give a genuinely better price than 49,900 other than for novated lease. Cricks for eg do a novated lease price in the mid to high 48's if you go via novate lease.
