Mine run out in February 2010, looking forward to it. No van repayments . Will save for 5 years that's the plan and after that I will see. Buying the same T5 again and starting over with paying it off doesn't sound right for me. Van will have done less than 80,000km next year and certainly should last up to 160,000 with minimum spending on it, or else

Have had some frustrations with leaking sun roof and a sat nav system that cannot find the satellites just recently, and a dealer that has started NOT getting it right. Maybe Solitaire is just getting too busy, but the response is not there like it was earlier on. It has taken them something like 8 weeks to get some replacement drainage tube for the sunroof - just through the period of the bad spring rains.
Also in June next year we will have paid it off, so anything coming back as a trade will go to cutting down repayments on a new one.
Anyone want a hardly driven t5?
Shogun, how much do you hope to get for your T5?

Does anyone know how much torque the modified 7speed DSG can handle? I'm interested in how much the power could be increased using a simple black box tuning device.

I have a Tunit module for my Golf, plenty of companies out there making these things, but imho the biggest tuning limitation for TDI DSGs is the torque capacity of the gearbox @ 350Nm. My T5 is manual so hopefully this won't be an issue.

I think I might have just answered my own question. From Wikipedia:

Basically says the first and only 7-speed DSG of it's kind (presumably Haldex-capable) 4WD compatible can handle up to 500Nm. and I'm sure Volkswagen Audi Group are still sharing their parts bin. That's a lot of headroom considering the T6 will have 400Nm standard.

Could also be great news for Golf modders etc who prefer DSG to manual but limited by current max torque figure.

Personally, I would prefer a DSG Multivan as my Golf's a dream to drive, but as we all know not available on T5 with 4-motion. Then at least my manual-shy wife could drive it too!

While trawling, I discovered that the black box for my Golf will also fit straight onto my T5 and give more than 20% increased torque

You were looking at DSG that is used in cars that have longitudinally mounted transmission, the one in front wheel drive cars (east west setup) is different DSG.

Thanks Transporter, found a more relevant thread on another VWwA forum, said Audi box can support 550Nm, perhaps Wikipedia info is out of date.

Does Australia / will Australia get the T6 LWB Multivan available in Germany? AFAIK only the 9-seat Caravelle is available here so far.

Have a look in here http://www.mediafire.com/?nndmzfjzyuw you can see the size of DSG in Q5. It wouldn't fit transversaly.

That is something that VWA will decide, so you need to ask them (or maybe a dealer will be able to find out for you if they think there is a sale in it for them).

Generally VWA have been very secretive about new models that may or may not be sold in Oz, presumably so that info doesn't dissuade people from buying the existing models that they do sell.

Been talking to Peninsula VW, dealer said they don't even know the model codes of the units which are already on the boat on the way here. He was extolling the virtues of the new engine, I guess the 2.5PD motor has been around for quite a while.
