I tried that link........and crashed it. But not before configuring a 4motion SWB van with all the rough road, safety and climate control fruit......and it exceeded 40,000 euros.

They definately know I'm interested, the funny thing is expecting me to confirm I would like to definately buy when they don't have any info from VW Aust. wouldn't give me their valuation of my current van although stated "they would love to have it on site", lol, and we know more atm from what is available on overseas websites. In fact I tried to translate the German configurator page and build my own for fun however it all got too hard, not to mention a billion options that won't make it here unfortunately. You can start it from here, I've already selected Transporter Van, 132kW, DSG, in Salsa Red, http://icc.volkswagen-nutzfahrzeuge....ss=motorselect

The Poms were having a similar whinge about high prices over on the Brickyard (scroll down to near the bottom of the page) :

2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).
Here's another link to a roadtest: One intersting claim is that prices have remained unchanged in Europe.http://www.goauto.com.au/mellor/mell...25763900040757In Europe at least, the prices of the new T5 range will not increase over the existing line-up. Volkswagen is yet to confirm pricing for the Australian cars.

My T5 is in the shop getting some things repaired - rear vision camera and a water leak through the sunroof (been a bit wet lately). Other half just happened to be sitting next to the commercial dealer rep when I wandered in. He now knows we are (at least I am) interested. Will be interesting to see what he comes back with. I see another 50% investment allowance coming on ...

I mentioned this to the rep I was speaking with yesterday, in that VW Aust better pull it's finger out and get some pricing and specs out as it only leaves 2 months to get official orders placed to claim the 50%. Otherwise potential customers could shop elsewhere or in my case if I couldn't claim the allowance I would wait until the warranty was running out.
I received a call from my orginal selling/servicing dealer today for a courtesy update and he (with rather obvious frustration) informed me that it could be as late as Jan before Aust. specs and pricing are released with talk of upto a 7% price rise and some extra equip. made standard to compensate. Being grumpy, I did mention that ESP better not be marketed as an "new" standard fit considering VW has made it standard across the entire range on T5.2. And they were already aware that European prices were unchanged from T5. The currency exchange was being blamed on some of this although I'm certain the Aussie is doing well against the US$ and has remained stable against anything else eg Euro, so that won't wash as well. I mentioned that combine the 50% tax allowance and full GST claim back for those on the cash method and a $50K van would be a huge tax deduction before June 2010 if you allow 4 months lead time for delivery, eg anywhere between $5000 to $12,000. Hurry up VGA.

That's why there is 7% rise in price. Do you remember how much it was to install LPG in the car before government interfered and gave $2,000.00 towards installation?
People shouldn't be too hot to by a new T5.2 that could make VW Australia think back. Just let your dealers know that you can buy something else as well or you keep driving as long as the van last, I would.
edit: Honestly most of the T5's wouldn't do anywhere close to 200,000km and would be what? 5 or 6 years old or younger, keep driving and let the dealers and VW Australia come to the senses. Would be interested to know how much of T5 sales come from people upgrading their T5.

True, I choke when i hear of $4500 LiLPG installations, sure state of the art but damn expensive. However the 50% Tax allowance ends on 30 Dec 2009 for goods ordered before this date and installed/received before Dec 2010 and it seems as if VW Aust won't be in a position for it's buyers to meet this target date. And I'd most likely take out an extended warranty and change over in year 4 of ownership.

In June 2010 my T5 is five years old, and I figure that even though it has yet to do 50,000 Km's 5 years for a company vehicle is long enough - especially as I am looking to keep the next one when we retire. Have had some frustrations with leaking sun roof and a sat nav system that cannot find the satellites just recently, and a dealer that has started NOT getting it right. Maybe Solitaire is just getting too busy, but the response is not there like it was earlier on. It has taken them something like 8 weeks to get some replacement drainage tube for the sunroof - just through the period of the bad spring rains.
Also in June next year we will have paid it off, so anything coming back as a trade will go to cutting down repayments on a new one.
Anyone want a hardly driven t5?
