NEW DISASTER Raised T5.1 Leaking Shocks need help ASAP

    Hey fellow raised van dubbers,

I have a 2011 Ex Ambo which i converted to a motorhome and raised etc. We've done about 60,000km since the fitout and have found one of our shocks to be leaking hydraulic fluid (albeit slowly).

The shock is the Bilstein BE5-E035 (-M2)

I have talked to Fulcrum and they have asked me to send the shock absorber back for a rebuild. They will do it for free which is great for us. Unfortunately we are in Alice Springs and Fulcrum are in Queensland.

Our van is our home, so we will have to park up while the shock is sent off...so i'm looking for ideas to hasten the process.

I was thinking about finding someone who has a similar shock say an old shock from a AMBO as i believe they were lifted anyway?? Asking them to EXPRESS post it to us.

    THEN
Removing my shock and fitting "borrowed" shock

send off the leaking shock for a rebuild...

Then spending a week or so in town waiting for the shock to be rebuilt by fulcrum.

    OR

I have found Monroe Shocks which are part numbered V-1170 from Super Spares...they are $200 a pair and the bloke says they are heavier duty, however I dont know if they will suit us? or whether they are as good as the bilstiens as they were about $560 EACH!! Also our Van is lifted and has diff spaces, bigger springs etc.??

    OR

I just park up in a caravan park, remove my leaking shocky, send it off, wait in town for a week...living in the caravan park and don't move the van...and wait for the shocky to return....

ANY IDEAS??? OR CAN ANYONE SEND ME AN OLD AMBO SHOCKY and I will buy it off you and pay for postage, and even post it back if you like as we will only use it for a week or so!!

    Thanks in Advance

Send it back to Fulcrum... transport from Brisvegas to Alice is ridiculously quick. And it won't be significantly longer in time than getting a new shock into town...

    Hi Saltdog,

Ive got the original rear shocks from my 3.2 T6 sitting in my workshop, i had the suspension changed out at around 3000-5000km to Seikel 4 motion.

The T5 Seikel kit fits the T6.

I'll send you a PM with my contact details, if you want me to send them.
