IIRC the change over is usually Aug/Sept. Do you have anything in place should prices rise or fall before you take delivery as happened to me back in 2007?

cant see it being a my13, they havent even started production on those yet which would mean so far you've waited 3 months for a car that hasnt even been started . . .

It's very possible. Obviously it depends on when it's manufactured and with a delay on dsg equiped VW's and build schedules, shtoney's van could have an actual build date after Sept'12. I have been told that a factory ordered T5 could take upto 12 months wait before I recieve it. When it actually gets built depends on where my potential order would sit in the VW plants build schedule. It would be interesting to see what the scheduled build date is going to be and the dealer should be able to find out.

I've had a confirmation from the dealer for a week 22 build, which puts it about 2 weeks from now...as a MY13 build. supposedly the reason it took 10 weeks to confirm the build date with head office was this timing with the new model coming off the production line...

at the time I ordered I was told it would be a 5-6 month wait, its a big increase in timing if that delay has now ballooned out to 12 months...in which case I'm glad I ordered when I did. I have heard of many delayed orders due to shortages and production allocation etc, fingers crossed its any such transition from MY12 to MY13 goes well and there are no delays as such...

in regards to your comment, are you suggesting that even thou I've ordered my vehicle and paid my deposit, they can later charge me more if the new model has an increase...? I (perhaps incorrectly) assumed that my deposit was deemed part of a contract that locked the price in at the time of the order. Likewise if the price falls, I wont be entitled to it since I have signed an order at the existing price structure etc...

I'm interested to hear of your story, either way...

It can be an interesting situation. In my case ordered March '07, VW Aust. lowers retail prices by $2400 in June '07, my van lands in Aust July '07 and I take delivery. VW Germany didn't lower their prices to VW Australia just the local division.

When last speaking to my dealer I asked about the situation where if I order a van so far in advance with prices for the new MY not known now at time of negotiations how do they treat the situation with regards van features, options and pricing. (I'm going off memory here) but I remember that they said they would order the van as I would want it now, see what specs/options come about with the new MY van and then look at pricing. This was because certain features could become standard, as say ESP did in the T5GP, or rear wipers are deleted (once when Inchcape was the distributor of VW's here before VWA took over) IIRC they implied they would wear a small price increase (say under 5%) and negotiate with me if above this figure. It also makes it tough to really negotiate hard on price when you don't really know what the future vans specs might be or pricing.
