Advice and thoughts on options for a new Mutlivan

    Hi All,

been doing a bit of surfing and bringing myself up to speed on the Multivan but looking for some local OZ advice and thoughts on a couple of things.

I'm about to place an order for a new Comfortline TDi340. It will be a build order as there is nothing really close to what we want in country.... and in Red.

It will definately be getting the following factory options

    Dark Tinted Windows (Privacy Glass)
    Multifunction Table
    Folding Side Mirrors
    Multiflex Board
    Good Night Package
Multifunction Steeering Wheel inc phone prep

Can someone fill in the blanks for me with respect to Bluetooth. Does the "Mult Funct St wheel inc phone prep" actually get you to the point where you can connect your Bluetooth phone and use it ? I thought you needed an additonal bit but its not listed as an option.... A quote I got from a dealer had $0 against "Bluetooth" I had on my list. The offical VW OZ site listed "Bluetooth Phone Kit" as an Interior Accessory... :confus

And an option I'm considering and looking for people thoughts.

Sports Suspension w uprated stabiliser :- The normal loading of the Van will be Wife ,to young kids (1 & 5) and a Pram. But occasionally it will be loaded for camping holidays.
Does this option make it feel like a truck when lightly loaded ?
It seems to be included if you option 18" Alloys (cant justify the $2K+ for that) why does big wheels drive a suspension upgrade ?

Also just need some confirmation ...

I've read a lot about the RNS510 and it seems relatively easy (and a lot cheaper) to buy and fit later rather than factory option. What I can find a lot about is the other listed dealer option "PDC Front and Rear w RVC Plus (bascially the reversing camera). Whats the PDC Front and Rear about ? , the Van comes with F&R PDC that shows up on the standard unit RCD 310 ? EBay has a lot of cameras supposedly for the Multivan (but they show connected to a seperate screen (not the RNS510) , does the RNS510 just have a video input so these work ?

    Last ones...

Are the Front FOG Lamps an easy plug and play item I can add later ?

Are the Bi-Xenon with LED daytime Running Lights an easy plug and play item I can add later ?

Finally .... anything else I should consider for a new order ?

    Thanks in advance
    Darren

We have factory BT and up to MY11, you needed 2 modules, 1 MF steering wheel kit and 1 BT unit. You will need to confirm with the dealers that MY12 is different. I don't think it is......

Not worth it. The stock suspension is suprisingly sporty and as a family car provides the comfort you need. The TDI340 is way too slow to need sport suspension.

PDC is standard and integrates full with aftermarket RNS510. RVC is not an easy or cheap retrofit option. Ebay RVCs need an adaptor +-$150 to connect to RNS510 + labour. If you want RVC, the best way is to get it factory fitted. We are happy without the RVC. See here: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...ery-54477.html

Are the Front FOG Lamps an easy plug and play item I can add later ? No, not just plug and play. Can be done, but not easy and not for less than the factory cost. Factory includes it functioning as cornering lights.

Are the Bi-Xenon with LED daytime Running Lights an easy plug and play item I can add later ? No. Even harder to retrofit than the foglights.

Finally .... anything else I should consider for a new order ? Yes, consider the TSI350, Our TDI is heavy on diesel everywhere except on the open road. AND SLOW. TSI will be no heavier on fuel in the city and much more fun to drive.

    Thanks in advance
