To add the description 6ml thick sound deadner was apllied to all internal surfaces I forgot to take photo before putting trims back on . Tailgate and side door was done plus the whole roof . 10 ml thick ply with household grade carpet . End result this thing is now so quiet it makes driving a real pleasure . 12 hours total work with about $600 worth of materials /carpet/ ply /glue /sound proof material . What do you think ??

    Hi Sunny,

Looks Great! What adhesive did you use and is it a paint-on or spray-on?

    Thanks

Thanks guys for the responses , yes I was quite happy with the way it came out my friend was stoked he could not believe the difference not only in looks but how much quieter it was no boomy empty metal sound and no road noise etc . The glue is a spray adhesive you can see the spray gun used in pictures 5 and 6 . The light grey material on the walls is called Hull Liner as its used a lot in the marine industry for carpeting the insides of boats . Its a synthetic needle punch carpet you can stretch the hell out of it to get it into the shapes , thats how the whole of each side is done from a single piece .If you look carefully at the inside shots you can also see that an alloy foil tape was used to seal any holes inside this will stop any diesel soot from coming through from outside as it seems to find its way inside on these vans . There is a stiffer floor version of the same carpet but its a mongrel to use on floors as it is really hard to clean . I prefer to use household carpet on the floor as its much stronger and easy to clean . IF you look in the photo section there are some photos showing the inside of my sons T4 here is the link to see something different http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...y-3785-22.html

    Jeez Sunny.
Why don't you live in Nth QLD??? Fantastic job as usual, and the little divider on the right rear quarter is really clever.
I'm on an extra months leave post deployment and was going to ask you what you call the stretchy carpet in Australia for moulding into creases etc (vs using the UK names for everything).
    Best wishes mate.
