    multivan extra seats

Folks I am buying a comfortline multivan diesel auto as standard but with a non genuine tow ball and a 6 year warranty and a nice fast silver colour.

Anyway the main reason for my post is that I am getting a childs seat fitted to the multivan to increase the seating capacity to 8.

Cons, only lap belt but does have a harness bolt on the back of seat, seats up to about a 12 year old, naturally of course depending on the size of the child

Can have them in two places, either between the two front seats or between the two middle seats, in the case of the middle seats they take out the little table and run it along the slides in its place. The seat can be removed if necesary and takes about 15 minutes according to the engineer.

All engineer approved etc and the cost is $1155.00 for the one seat.

So in reality can increase the capacity of the multivan up to 9, allowing for two of the seats for children.

First bloke I have found who does it.

When do you get your car? I am interested in what you think of the extra seats when you get them, although my youngest is 13 and getting too big for such a seat. I have driven with four on the rear seat and three on the middle two seats once, though, which is not the safest, especially with all the air bags. The table is pretty much a gimic, although the storage drawers and drink holders in it are good and I would be reluctant to take it out.

I used to have nine seats in an XF falcon wagon with the three seater bench front seat and a Take3 three seater in the boot. This was good while I had 6 small kids but I replaced it with a Toyota Commuter Bus (12 seater) when they got bigger. I still have it but it is never driven unless I want to carry bulky and / or dirty stuff. The two VW's I have had (T4 and now T5 Multvan) run rings around it for comfort and power as well as for driving on corrugations.

Should be in a few weeks depending upon the salary sacrifice people and all the associated paperwork.

I actually thought about buying the trendline version of the vw and getting a set of 2 seats beside the middle bucket seat but hey I only have 7 in the family and really the extra seat is for only when relatives come, that sort of thing.

Once I get the seat I will let you know.
