Mickey mouse lost one of his ears !

Just my luck the old story things happen in threes mine was today , while working on a new car the vibrations from my cutting tools tripped the fuel cut of valve disabling the car spent an eternity to find the reset , then after what was stinking hot day here in Brisbane finished off all my cool water and was trying to get a mineral water from a vending machine at the dealers typical the mongrel refused to take my money so I decided to get a drink on the way home . But alas luck out number three had not yet reared its ugly head until I backed out of the shade area where I was parked bugger I was sure the post I hit was not where it was . Result drivers mirror not just the plastic but the whole bloody thing got ripped off plus a decent scrape along the door as well . As the guy at the workshop said are your mirrors big enough . Yes what looks like Mickey Mouse ears on these vans now looks decidedly uneven with one forlornly hanging by the wires . So after writing this I am off to see the wizard and try and stick his ear back on . Howard

Hey Howard
What a F**kin Bugger!! There goes any profit on that job you were doing?
Large mirrors are supposed to be an advantage and allow you to see the post BEFORE you hit it!!
You were probably thinking about that cold drink that the vending machine deprived you of...
All I can say is at least you are in the trade so sure you know a good repairer that will look after you on price?
Is the actual mirror smashed? Will you be able to "stick it back on? Is the third pic of it sitting back in place or the "before" pic?

I did a similar thing last year there was a bright red 50mmx50mm square pole holding the loading bay roof up.
As I reversed I put right lock on and it moved into my van....thats the way I see it!

Lots of messing and more parts than I would care to list and its back to how it should be.

Hi Jason the photo with the mirror back on was how it finished up with some simple new screws as the alloy base plate was broken off where it screwed to the door frame so it was just a case of drilling some new holes and reattaching it ,the mirror did not break this time as it had on two previous occasions all the plastics were okay as well . And yes to prove what happens in life" s*&^t happens" as I said third time I have wacked the mirror on the drivers side . I was backing out from two side by side shade covers at a dealers on the Northside and the support poles were offset so I was looking out the window and could see a pole but forgot that the pole I should have been looking at was now on target to get me it was right next to the drivers door so bloody close that I didnt see it when looking over my shoulder all I saw was the pole of the shade next door so to speak hit the bugger right against the door if I had been a little further out it would have just flipped back no problem but I got it right against the body thats why the dents are there . I could be upset but these days I take these things and just get on with life . I will probably wait until some one hits me then I,ll make them pay HA HA . The previous two occasions when I did break the mirror was backing out of a very tight workshop door and was concentrating on the passengers side and bang ah well , second one was at a shopping centre just turned too soon and bang again . What is really funny that when I owned my 2000 T4 in 6 years I never hit a damn thing with mirrors or anything until I tore the drivers side right out of the van when I hit the back of a car transporter . Me being the ever optomist thought oh its only the front guard and tried to reverse off the tray DUMB the whole front guard half bumper headlight outer door skin and the whole front wheel was sheared of and concertinad back to the "B" pillar didn,t even break the door glass . repair bill $12500 insurance wrote it off and I bought my current T5 for work .
