Mackay - Townsville or Cairns Upholsterers

G'day everyone.
Does anyone have a recommendation for an Auto Upholsterer between Mackay through to Cairns who has Ply lined and carpeted the rear of your VW T5 van?

I've called a few places in Townsville, and the 'do what's easy for them, not what I'm asking for' attitude really has me annoyed to the point where I'm happy to travel 350 kms in either direction to get the job done by a reputable company (If one isn't identified in Townsville).

If you are going for the full carpet lining treatment take care around your windows if they are tinted. Even with the windows masked, the solvents in the spray adhesive can loosen up the tint around the edges. I've noted the tint has a more difficult time bonding near the edges where the inside glass has a "dotted black" finish.

Also make sure they place the joins somewhere inconspicuous...

Get your trimmer to put a layer of Ensolite (RAAM Audio) or similar down behind the trim panels. You will be amazed at the difference in sound levels. I've put two layers on top of my Dynamat Extreme/BXT and the van has gone silent.

I'm currently in South Oz for a few weeks with work, so van work has gone quiet.
Surprised at the lack of comments from anyone re Nth QLD upholsterers though. Must be minimal Northerners on the list.
Re the Ensolite, where did you get yours from? It sounds like a great product. RAAM Audio has the material, but are US based I think.

I ordered my Ensolite from Raam Audio over the Net. It worked out very cheap even with the freight compared to Dynamat. With the AUD so strong, it would worth while again.

I'm over in SA on Tuesday for a fortnight - work too (oil & gas).

This week was the first chance in months I've had to work on the van.

If you can't get anyone to do the trimming, the trick is the spray outfit for the glue and very sharp blades. I've done some carpeting myself (mates' trade transporters - carpet on ply) but I got a trimmer to do mine. I was nervous about tucking in the carpet near the windows and did not want to stuff it up.

I bought the materials from Daleys - auto trim supplier in Sydney.

Hope the weather cools down a bit for you in South Oz. 37 today at the RAAF Base, and hotter inland.
I'm inside cramming some study, so it's not so bad. Bugger working outside in it!
