LPG stove in a Transporter Camparvan

Have noticed that many of the VW transporter camper van conversion companies are using methylated spirit, diesel or portable butane stoves.
Is there a new regulation that a lpg bottle cannot be fitted on a small campervan or they do not do that because cost of cutting a hole on the side of the van for access to a fully enclosed bottle storage box?
Can an LPG bottle holder be fitted on a rear wheel carrier or that also it is not legal?
    Inputs are appreciated
    Cheers

An LPG container can only be fitted isolated from the inside and vented to the outside. As far as I can remember it is illegal to transport flammables on the rear bumper of anything. Clarfication. Diesel is NOT a flammable as is petrol and gas. It is a combustible which is rated differently. If its not illegal its stupid and new caravans have to have the gas bottles mounted WITHIN the confines of the A Frame rails so would doubt you would get away with one on the rear bumper.

I would be very careful using any of them in the enclosed space of a campervan, without having some ventilation . Otherwise you may not wake up one morning

I agree with you regarding the isolated storage box on a RV like this one (DIY Motorhome Showers), I fitted one in my old Mazda T3500.
I just was wonder why the converters of small vans are not using them and if some new kind of regulation on them.
I have to find out if it is legal to fitt a box like the one in the link so I can carry a portable HWS. If not I will use a methylated spirit stove and forget about the HWS when I do not tow a small cargo trailer.

Why not ring the appropriate authority and find out Nothing like the horses mouth. You will however have to get a licenced gasfitter to install the lines etc or insurance will be null and void

I would think if the boxes are available they will be legal to fit CORRECTLY

    I would do that.
The storage box will be only as storage of the bottle. There will be not lines inside the camper. We cook outside on a kitchen pod and also will use the gas for a portable HWS.

I was looking at them because here in Tasmania we must have a heater. The heaters and the HWS are very expensive.
A Genisis HWS cost $1800, a portable gas heater cost less than $300.
The stoves are also very expensive.
We was looking at the Russian and made in China heaters that cost about $1000 less than the Webasto and Eperspacher.
Forget about the excellent Wallas products, they will cost more that the van!

On the issue of gas, bultane and small portable stoves like some used by the campervan conversion companies IMO the following link with the up to date recalls can be of interest to the fellow members.
I do not know if there is a section in the forum to leave it as a permanent reference.

I saw this one some time ago , we had two of them and had used them for years with no issues . Decided to be on the safe side and disposed of the old ones and bought a new upgrade compliant model .
