Can anyone suggest mag wheels that are load rated to suit a vw t4 cab chassis transporter?I am getting conflicting info.

From memory, Speedy was the only local supplier of load rated alloys in the T4 bolt pattern. And they were ugly too.

If you want to run wider tyres then get your steelies rebanded with new rims instead.

I think that if you are going down this road so to speak there would be a couple of things to consider.
[A] load rated rims to keep the van within VW specs .
[B] Or non rated rims that you will find lots of but you are then reponsible if there was a failure . Your insurance may decline a claim if it can be proved the wheels were the contributing reason for the claim , plus various states Transport and or Police would possibly issue a defect it they were able to establish that they are non complient . In saying that my sons T4 has rims and tyres that are not load rated but do have load rating sufficient to obviously hold the weight of the van and be used for non load carrying , as his van will never carry the weight that the load rating is set for . Naturally we take on the responsibility of insurance claims if it were to arise , my previous T4 had non rated rims and was written off and the insurance actually paid out the additional cost of the alloys as I had included them in my policy . I think the best advise is your own personal choice non rated and accept the risk or load rated and stay within the specs. As we have 3 vans in all 2 t5,s and my sons T4 at one time or the other over the years we have been stopped by police either for RBT or the occasional other reason not once has there been anything said about the wheels on any of them and the police have certainly had a good look at the wheels naturally whilst checking tyres etc , so there you have it I am sure many other forum members have their own stories to tell on this subject as it has been covered many times before .Howard

FYI. my mate just cracked a rim on his merc. its a 20" with strips of rubber for tyres. wasn't load rated and its coming apart all over, this was just from smashing pot holes on the NE highway

I will never understand the logic of lo profile tyres on large rims , rubber bands do not absorb the bumps like a normal size tyre when you get up around 19 or 20 inch you are just asking for trouble as all they do is place undue stress on suspension components . I had a 2 month experience with my van on some lo profile tryes on some second hand rims I bought as the tyres were nearly new I left them on so as to save some money . After 2 months I changed them to the correct size as the ride was so rough you felt even the slightest bump or twig on the road awful never again .
