    Hi all,
I notice that the Seikel 50mm high lift kit is 30mm suspension and 20mm tyres.
A couple of you seem to be running larger diameter tyres. What's involved in adjusting the speedo when larger diameter tyres are used?

Seikel recommend the Monroes for van because Bilsteins will have a knocking noise when unloaded and also note that the life of the drive shafts may be shortened.
Here is the link to their certificate of no objection for the lift kit.

That can be changed using VCDS. Pretty straight forward for anyone that knows how to use it. That said I haven't had it done on mine. I just note that my speedo now reads about 1.5% low and odometer is low by about 7% (my tires are are +48mm from stock, so a 6.8% increase in diameter). From the factory the speedo reads high by about 5% and the odometer reads correctly).

Just got my hands on the one video from outside the van at Sundown. Naturally the one time I stalled it in the entire trip was when the camera was on me!

I could have a should have saved that with a little clutch slip. Gives you a good idea of how the ECU cuts the fuelling as soon as it gets off boost and particularly under 1000rpm.

Is there anything available for better off-road gearing for vans fitted with DSG?
Have a look at this. DQ 500

Have no idea about what it actually does but I discovered it after I had ordered my manual van. Not much point inquiring about it then. Still looks interesting.

When I was first inquiring about a van the salesman said not to buy a DSG if I was going to do much sand work. Be interesting to see if that product helps.

An auto like the Amarok sure sounds like it would be ideal.

    Murph
That demonstrates exactly why I lust after the low gearing. Just a pity about the cost.

My speedo reading is pretty much identical to yours with the new tyres.

The Seikel gear set is just way way too expensive for me to justify it. If it can do what I've done with it so far.....I really don't need it. It won't get pushed any harder. Maybe one day if I build another one of these with more serious intentions and a more serious budget...

[QUOTE-more serious intentions and a more serious budget..]

Murph yep, more serious budget...... Everything I've read says the same thing, ridiculous cost but worth it. The latest version Torque and Trail for a couple of years now reduces 1st gear by 38% and reverse by 37% which would be terrific.

Early last year I saw a van for sale on Gumtree with the gearing and so I decided to ask him was it any good, OH s**t yeah, was his reply.

I've had gearing envy ever since......sad really...

But in reality I don't need it.

Exactly what I did, running 235/65 /17. Speedo is slightly under but odo is spot on gps speed.
