The drifter kit is sooo good, i was going to make one, but honestly, there is no way i could have matched there build quality. It stays in the van, fully stocked with cuttlery, cooker etc. (it was only $50 delivery from Sydney to Gladstone!!!?) I got the DPOR

Water tank is a bit crappy, i just have a 40L bladder I brought off of ebay. I sit it in a plastic container in the middle of van next to the kitchen and run a hose out (fill and drain). It works well for washing/coffee water etc. I have a filter as the water tastes like Sh*t! The filters only last 3 days, so I am at a loss at the moment! There is a place at the sunshine coast which does custom poly tanks. When i move from Gladstone next month I will go visit them! But my other option is Southern Spirit Campervans, they sell two tanks which fit under the side you are talking about! I think they are in Geebung!

Flyscreens - I saw some online premade, but i wanted custom screens, I have the solid canvas for the back with pull out kitchen section and flyscreen component, plus i have one for the side door! I don't have sliding windows, so this is used for air flow! I just talked to my local marine upholsterer and got him to make them, i think it was about $300 each....but well worth the money!

No diff spacers for me, Not sure whether i will have problems further down the track, been okay for 7 months now?

Got any pics of your van MAD? Or anybody else with Lifts! Please post photos!!!
    Hey there,

Short 1 as need to sleep

    Thanks for the Info
No pics Yet to much work to do, not lifted yet anyhow

The tanks From southern spirit are the ones I'm getting, They are CAK tanks from the UK, I need the fittings in a different spot and size to the standard, and the Kit comes with hangers if you buy from CAK (leisure lines) in the UK, southern spirit do not include hangers or adjust fittings unless you order and wait , so same as ordering direct,

Thanks for the suspension measurements it keeps this thread going , BTW whats the Height of your van from "centre of hub" to under arches? , as this is the standard way of measuring suspension heights and how VW do it in the Manual

Gotta sleep , keep up the good work Fellas

    Regards

Try pouring a bottle of red cordial into the tank then fill it, let it sit overnight then empty and re-fill, it might need a bit of a rinse but it worked on my 87lt plastic tank that I tainted by filling with an old garden hose.

Given I'm not a fan of gas dampers this was a loss I could and have dealt with for quite some time...thank you Koni.
Seano, would you be able to clarify exactly what I would need to buy to get a similar lift as you?
I think the Seikel kits are way overpriced for what they provide, I'm far more inclined to follow your route. Thanks

Hey guys, sorry for the late response! I'm working overseas at the moment and it's rather hectic. :-/
I won't be home again for another month or so. Happy to post up the measurements for you then.

    Your setup looks awesome saltdog!

I've had a few changes of plans lately, so I reckon I'm going to take the opportunity to hit the road in the van again for a few months at the end of the year. I'm thinking I'll work my way down through NSW, VIC and SA for something different.

Oh yeah, I was briefly back home last weekend and took the van up to Teewah and DI. Worst outing for the van EVER. To date I'd only ever got it stuck once, this trip I must have dug it out at least five times and one was bad enough I needed a mate to pull me out in his ranger. I'm wondering if my tire gauge was playing up, because according to it I was running the tires as low as I normally do, but the tires didn't look like they were bagging out as much as they normally would. After knocking another 6 psi out I was fine. I have brought shame to off-road VWs.

Meanwhile Delica and an old 4WD L300 came waltzing past. Shame.

Don't worry too much it could have been worse, a Toyota cruiser tray back bogged to the axles.... I didn't get a chance to be embarrassed on our Simpson Desert/3 Corners Trip last month because it rained. We were heading from Thargomindah to Innamincka when it rained and creeks came up so we decided to do a u-turn after about 80mm during the night. We spent 3 nights between flooded creeks I couldn't cross. The Toyota and the BT50 had no trouble but far too deep for me. Anyway we had very pleasant campfires and terrific sunsets. The Toyota decided to head off home but about 5 minutes down the road they were bogged to the axles. Some work and with the BT50 they were out. Still a track out there we want to drive is closed.

Anyway I have a Desert Parks Pass to use in the next 11 months so hopefully I will get another go at getting there.

    wheel arch measurements 4 motion

    Mad/Saltdog
if i read your posts properly then from the centre wheel to edge of wheel arch i should be the same or approx but here are my readings
Front 445 both sides and rear 435 and 440mm it would appear i have much less clearance. i also have a custom Drifter box set in the back. given the size of this unit and its weight may account for the loss of clearance.

as far as Vin goes i do not have a 1BB or a 1BA but i do have a BH in the middle of the set of numbers letters

my van is X NSW ambulance, 2011 so LWB 4 motion and DSG
the drawer unit is set at a height so when i fold the seats it makes a bed. The floor and the seats are from a multivan of course. It has been certified in NSW now as a 5 seat vehicle.
