Thanks for the kind words guys

Rob, the coilovers are JOM from Veedubmachine on ebay UK at $650 delivered - and it only took 3 days !!!! Definitely cheaper than raising the garage!

Hey Scott, the problem with the boost controller was intermittent, but what we saw at times was that the bus was over boosting and surging forward under accelleration. Gear changes from the auto box were jerky and unsettled the bus a lot, especially through corners. Then at other times it was like the turbo had gone to sleep - no power. Could still drive, but so slow.
This was rectified temporarily by pulling over, turning the engine off, then re-starting again, and everything would be ok again until the next episode.
    Hope this helps?

More mods to come when I can afford it

    Cheers guys,
    JP

Ha this is great to see (not the auto crapping itself) another nice low van owned by a responsible MK1 owner!

I reckon we can have a T5 limbo at Autofest this year then if I bring ours (and see how many child seats we can have in the one place at the same time to boot!)

Looking good mate. After once having to scrape my way into the garage to escape heavy rain, my wife also agreed on lowering the van instead of raising the garage. haha.

Are you planing to do any other mods?

Anyway, she is on the road and the kids love it, and the missus likes to drive it, so it is all a distant memory now
So the dealer covered the new box under the 3 month stat warranty?

I'm in the exact same boat, purchased off a non-VW dealer, the auto box crapped itself soon after, van has been off the road for close to three weeks now while the non-VW dealer sent it to a VW Service Centre and now waiting on VW Aust to decide on a good will claim. Certainly frustrating, but i think it will be worth the wait once she's healthy again.

Love the way the van sits too.

Thanks JP, most helpful. Mine is going into limp mode intermittantly under full boost. Can be an issue passing a car on the highway!! Auto is fine. Pull over turn off engine annd turn on again, it is fine. No boost leaks found and turbo actuator appears to be moving the full travel. Hopefully resolved next week. Maybe an N75 or EGR fault. Thanks, Scott

Bluefin, there was no warranty with this car as it had over 200k on the clock. After a lot of emails back and forth, the dealer coughed up some cash to cover the gearbox. Inspite of the extras I've had to spend on it, the bus was still a great deal, so I'm not too upset. I am supremely lucky to have the support of the boys from CVWC.

Scott, the boys at CVWC replaced the N75, and power is fantastic, and the gear changes are smooth.

Future mods wish list include an Oettinger reflash, 17s, tidy up of the interior and exterior.

    Lovin' this bus!!!

I'd love to mate, but I can't do the Nats. I'll make it a commitment for German Autofest later in the year!
