    Int. wiper stopped working

Just noticed that in my T5 the intermittent wiper position doesn't work although over speed humps it did make a single wipe...took off the cover of the stalk and all seems ok, very small circuit board inside that also works the trip comp etc... Every other setting works and checked the fuses. Only a single 25amp fuse for the wipers and it naturally it was OK. Anyone have any ideas for me to check?

It happened in my T5 2 weeks ago did nothing and they came OK following day.
However I charged up battery overnight. According to my wiring diagram there is multifunction controller that operates wipers, I wonder if lower battery voltage could have something to do with it. Also for years I had symptoms like first thing in the morning when I turned intermittent wipers or did just one swipe with the stalk they didn't park in "home position". Dealer didn't find it as a fault, so I wait for them to stop working and will repair it at my cost since the van is out of warranty
There was no fault stored or detected using VCDS.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check battery tomorrow. According to my build date my van is 2 y.o this month/nearly 60K km.

I'd definately check the battery, low battery volts certainly seem to throw up some crazy faults. I've been testing mine with a battery charger attached to prevent crazyness, although I suspect some people might advise against leaving a battery charger connected to the vehicle electonics.

"Transporter" which wiring diagrams do you have. I need to invest in some technical information for the T5.

I just bought Autodata for one year. It has actually a lot of info on VW cars in its database (all wiring diagrams for T5). I use CTEK battery charger it can be connected for months without disconnecting battery from the vehicle and it is safe for late model cars electronics.

It's fixed but how I'm not sure.

I drove to work this morning with the wiper stalk in the int. position to see if it would occassionally make a single wipe like it did last night when going over speed humps. No luck this time. Got to work, (short 10km drive) needed to move van and I started it while the wiper stalk was still in the int. position....guess what..it worked instantly and has ever since.

I'll still check the battery charge however all seems OK for now.

PS I remember in my T4 that the battery seemed fine and then one morning it was dead and couldn't be started using jumpers. I had no warning like long cranking before starting etc.

    intermittent wiper fault

I turned on the wipers to remove snow from a frozen windscreen [silly I know] and as they were stuck to the screen i turned them off quickly to avoid damage. After that the int. wipe stopped working - until about 6 mths later, it miraculously started working again! Now THATS intermittent !
Or maybe just the amazing self-healing powers of REAL ie flat motor Kombis???
    Cheers
