    Insurance for T4 Recommendations

    Hi Folks

I got a quote for fully comprehensive car insurance quote on a 2003 T4 Caravelle. I nearly fell of my chair when NRMA quoted me just over a $1000 with a $500 excess. I was used to paying $540 for a 2008 Landcruiser 78 series Troopy. What are you paying for your insurance ? Can we start this thread?

    Cheers

I payed $496 for my camper that has an agreed value of $27,000 including $100 for contents.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Pays to shop around I was with RACQ for years and I was contacted by our home insurer Suncorp and because we bundled it saved us nearly $600 on the three vans alone , agreed value stayed the same only the excess on the under 25 driver was a bit higher .

If you stay too long with one insurer, then you pay what is known as "a lazy tax". Last time Allianz tried increase my insurance, I just told them I'd go with Bingle and already had an online quote. It worked a treat.

Pointless thread mate. All you can do is get online or ring around for quotes.

Insurance will vary based on postcode, garaged or street park, previous driving record, kilometres driven per year, usage of vehicle and whether or not the insurance company likes your car plus a dozen other factors.

Also, Australian insurance companies tend to bend over backwards with discounts to get a new customer but like to screw over existing customers.

    IMO, NRMA - pppphhhhttttttt! robbers

I'll post my experience anyway just in case it is of value for anyone.
Have just been through the process for my 2010 T5 in the outer east of Melbourne. I realise that it will depend on your location and circumstances. But I have again ended up staying with AAMI. Once you tick "business" all policies go up. AAMI by $100 - others by up to $400. When I did the AAMI online quote and pretended to be a new customer - it was $100 less than my renewal offer - as soon as I put in my real address and said I was existing customer - up it went by $100 - so rang them up - while they would not address that issue - they gave me $50 off discretionary - I suppose for ringing up - and another $50 because it was now not financed - so I was happy with that.
At $700 I am paying $100 less than last year and $300 less than Allianz and Coles which I also online quoted. I was surprised by the Coles price. I have just moved my home and contents insurance to them after saving 30% from the Allianz renewal.
I know there are many who bag AAMI on various forums - but I have had 2 claims now in 4 years - and have been happy with the service. I have both my vehicles with them because they have been the cheapest for me every time - and I used to be a AAMI hater - they declined me insurance about 30 years ago over some triviality - but with their pricing of late - I figured it was time to forgive and forget
