I used to wire driving lights on two way switches, on/off/on so the lights could be aimed without the headlights on but switched over to the second position and they were turned on/off with the high beam or totally switched off.

Here's a question for Sunny, Yogi and Markee, have you ever had any times you wished your light bars were somehow mounted higher? Or are you OK with the visibility from them being mounted in that section of bumper bar?

I'm about to have one mounted in a similar position on my T6.

I'll jump in first , I am quite happy with the position as the Cree bars give light in all directions so height is not an issue as far as I am concerned . I dont think there would be any alternatives with mounting it on the roof {impractical } or maybe like this one . Its just so wrong on every level . If you check out my photos on the previus page you can see the difference the bar makes , the normal beam in the photo cuts off a metre off the ground as seen on those trees , but the bar gives massive coverage low and high which is very handy in case of those suicidal drop bears .

Thanks for that. I'll report back on findings once I have it fitted (I don't want to muck around pulling the bar off I'll leave it to the professionals).

I bit the bullet and went for something a little more expensive:

I am completely happy with the position of mine. Makes a huge difference as Sunny mentioned. Did a country drive last night, the difference is like ‘night & day’, so to speak. It’s a lot more comfortable driving with the LED bar on, as the standard headlights are hopeless in my opinion.

I know its probably too late but did you check around on these light bars for prices , so many of these exact same bars are available for half the price what the site you listed has them for . The specs are the same as they probably come out of the same factory in China . You often see items for sale on sites like Facebook and others and they say reduced by 50% down to a price they quote . I bought some LED torches for camping which were showing up on a site for around $68 for two reduced from $185 , I went online and found the EXACT same thing on Ebay with an opening bid of 50cents , so I put in 55cents and won the auction . Ok admits here the freight was $10 so two torches for $10.55 big saving on the other sites price . 28 inch cree light bar | eBay

Have to agree with the others, it’s absolutely fine where it is.
If anything, once I get roof racks I’d be getting some kind of long throw beamed light and mount them up there just to add more light further in the distance so to speak.

The bar arrived and is finally fitted. Yes I went for a brand name bar but I got a good second hand price on eBay.

While I would have liked (and asked for) it to be mounted higher up cutting out the section one horizontal bar higher than they did, the results are great, the lighting throw is great and I'm much happier now driving around in the dark.

It looks good where it is. Mounted closer to the road surface gives more light on the road in front of, which is what I’d prefer.

Looks good Tony thats a wider one than ours I think , they have done a good job . PS you could have washed the bugs off before the photo ! and I agree with Transporter more light on the road in front is good as well . I fitted mine some years back after a 4 hour drive back from north west of Brisbane , I rounded a corner in the dark and a huge deer stepped out onto the road on my left . It was one of those undies soiling moments , if anything had been oncoming I would have ended up as bonnet mascot on a road train bullbar etc.
