I gather it is something to do with the canbus connections. Quite a few threads on this forum refer to the problem, mostly related to changed AVEs.

Usually only noticed if the vehicle isn't driven for a few days or more, if you drive every day or every second day the battery gets charged up again before it gets flat enough for you to notice.
Yeah, the problem gets usually noticed in winter time.

I'm also wanting to install a cheap eonon double din head unit into my T5 just for a reversing camera installation.

Does anyone know where i can find a tutorial on installing a oem head unit in a T5?

I've got a 09 T5, so what exactly is this "CAN BUS" thing? What does it do? Can i do without one?

    Thanks

I've got the standard one that comes with the van. Like this one:

Just briefly read that can bus page. To my understanding, I can just install the eonon head unit into the van and connect the can bus to the "impart ican system"? Is this so called "ican" system already in the van? Or do i need to purchase it?

    Thank you for your help!

You do not have to hook up the can wires. You need the powered antenna adaptor and acc pick up from streering colunm. Thin Brown/Green via a relay, works a treat on my T5 with a Alpine IDA300e

    T5 Stereo installation

    Hi

I'm picking up a 2012 T5 on Monday (although it was made 2010 and complianced 2012) and I want to fit a 2-din stereo and reversing camera.

Is Can-Bus an issue for the sterio requiring an adapter? Or is the only thing I need the aerial adapter? And last question is where is the best source for the parts?

An image of the stereo is below so everyone knows the model

    Thanks in advance

The OEM's are far better than any of the alternatives IMO. I have/had OEM RNS510s, cheap chinese ones and better chinese ones so I talk from experience They worth every extra $$$ .....

If you are set on a non OEM, I'd recommend these, they have an OEM style interface and local Aussie support with free firmware and map upgrades for life. Group Buy / EOI new generation DNS head units (RNS-510 alternative)
