    installed K&N Performance Air Filter

With the Multivan having travelled 140k KMs, i am becoming more open to experimentation.
So, installed K&N Performance Air Filter, which seems to be the same part number for all T5/T6 regardless of the egnige, and fits into the existing air filter housing.

    Impressions are:
Pros: The power increase is surprisingly tangible. Seems much more than 1 or 2 percent claimed.
Also, drivability has improved, the engine feels less constrained, spins at higher revs much smoother than before.
So, overall, very happy, it is a keeper.

Cons: the filter comes wrapped in plastic with a warning that contains cancerogenous substance. I understood this relates to the oil film that covers it. The filter is described as good for 1 million kms, if washed and resprayed with the specific filter oil. I would not be looking forward to washing off and resprayng cancerogenous oil. Currently, considering to just buy a new one every year.

A K&N panel filter is good for about 45,000 km between cleans, so no need to buy new every year, do it once every 2-3 years depending on your mileage per year.

Wear a face mask for the 5 seconds each year when your spray the oil if you are worried about inhaling the fumes. The filter is washable and reusable - ive been using K&N and other similar filters (AFE is much better quality IMO) for years.
