How to remove distributor rotor? - T4
Hey guys,
Am new to this forum and am attempting my first ever job on my wonderful T4.
I need to replace the distributor cap, rotor and ignition leads. The only problem I'm having is that I can't get the rotor of!!
Sorry if this is a dumb question, from what I have seen I thought I would be able to pull it straight off but I just can't seem to do it. Is there a trick to it? Something obvious that I'm missing?
I was so proud of myself for trying to do this job myself (would usually just take it straight to the mechanic without a second thought but figured its about time I learnt some basic mechanical skills myself).
Anyway, thanks in advance for any suggestions. Apologies if this has been psoted before, I did do a search but couldn't find anything.
Thanks again.

I'm sure they just pull off, I think that there is one older VW kind of dizzy that has a small pin through the rotor, anyway look at your new rotor, if it has no pin hole or similar then its just a pull off job, might just need a screw driver as a lever to get it off.........vwtech

You might have to crush it with vice grips to get it off. In the olden days they were glued on, on the 16V and that was the way round it. Not sure why they did it though? Replacements had no glue.

It will pull off but usually not without a fight. If you don't want the old one you can help it off with a screwdriver but it will probably break. The new one will just push on.
