Hiccup is just a momentary loss of power where acceleration drops, and only happens when in gear and not changing gears. We do tend to drive fairly conservatively, but did do a run over to the York Peninsula recently - but still not caning the engine. So I'll try for a long run soon as I'm up to a bit of a trip.
Sounds like EGR from most of replies, so I'll have a talk to local friendly mechanic. (Miro - you here?)

Drive from your work through the hills and push it a bit more on regular basis that should keep the turbo vanes clean. I know, it's a bit harder with the auto.
