Do you mean the piece around the light lens or the trim behind the whole thing , if just the light then I would imagine you will need to remove the clear lens first there may be screws behind it . Be very careful as you will need an extremely small screw driver to carefully lever out the lens it also looks like the light may be a one piece unit the lens is the whole light fitting on its own same again lever it out from one end you may find a small recess at one end to insert the blade .

I had a look at one today there is a recess at the very back of the lens insert screw driver blade and it should pop out the other backing piece may just be scewed in place or it may be attached from behind the whole rear trim panel . You would then need to remove the whole pillar trim to get to any screws . Let us know how it goes

Sorry for the late update. I only go to having another look at this light over the weekend. Long story short: you cant take the surround off at all. Well, you can like I did and it will just break the pillar panel. There are no screws its held on by plastic lugs and they mean business.

Welcome to my world , I have to put up with this sort of thing just about every day . I install sunroofs and believe me there are some fittings that will not come off with out some sort of breakage . One of the worst is the VW Golf whoever designed the way the internal roof trim fittings attach should have been SHOT . Sorry I was not able to give you an exact removal procedure as I said I only had a quick look at one at a dealer .

This once on never off without breaking really annoys me, its bad enough when you have to go to VW and buy all new set of clips like I did when I removed the rear van heater covers, but when it breaks the actual cover or whatever then that is extremely bad design. Around the base of the captains seats in the kombi beach there is a lot of plastic and if it has to be removed some lugs break off each time, so after a few removals these parts are ruined. Although the internal VW plastic doesn't seem to break down chemically in the Australian sun like the stuff in the Hyundias, this sort of breakage each time it is removed is really bad. Glad I got that rant off my chest. LOL
