I think it depends on what model T5 pre 2010 the antennae is in the screen post 2010 its in the wing mirrors i believe you only have to look at the centre top and see . Shop around the prices for screens can be wildly different from one place to the other and also whether its got the antennae in the glass . Mine has a crack from the passengers side right accross the bottom almost to the drivers corner been that way for the last couple of years . I just tend not to worry as its so low down it does not enter my field of view , and yes I do know about how the glass is part of the bodies structural integrity .

i certainly hope the van feel better!!
I am up for 180k km service next week and if it came to 8K I think I would leave the van there!!!
VW are lucky that T5's are so great to drive while also being soooooooo versatile otherwise their maintenance costs would scare off everyone!

Just to clarify the actual scheduled 180K service was quoted at "only" $2500 which included gates coupling replacements and possibility of overnight stay due to length of work. The camshaft replacement (and myriad of small parts needed to be replaced as part of this), the turbo seal and replacing all four brake rotors/new pads is what took the total to just over $8K.
Edit: I too would have considered leaving it at the dealership except my MY07 T5 drives better (IMHO) than an MY13 T5GP dsg (admittedly the 106kW(?) version.

Going back to this...price for the job was $350 which included engine, gearbox and diff lube plus supply and fit of a set of pads for the rear brakes.

The cured the brake squeal I had and that was the only thing I was concerned with over and above the service. They have taken photos of the sun blinds in the sliding door windows which have horizontal white marks on them at regular intervals. Said they would contact VW re this but admitted they had seen it on other vehicles the week before.

I was wondering if anybody else had experienced this?
After 2 months I eventually heard back from the dealership to the effect that VW had requested more photos of the offending blinds. Dealership started to talk in terms of 'perhaps something had been silt down the blinds' Took the vehicle in this afternoon to have the photos taken and reassured them that I had most definitely NOT spilt anything on the blinds. I will wait and see if they finally admit that there is a problem to be dealt with under warranty,

My Multivan when purchased new in 2008 had the same issue with the white stained blinds in the sliding doors. The blinds were replaced under warranty. I also know of another example as well replaced under warranty. Regards, Scott
