Putting the pad thickness or wear percentage down on paper is just an ar$e-covering exercise.

In reality, unless you spefically state that the pads or rotors are pretty much worn out, any figure you state is pretty much meaningless to the average car user.

It's a figure of speech implying it was a fairly quick job. We all know it takes more than 5 minutes just to get the car hovering & a wheel off. It's like all those people that complain about the cost of a basic service because "it only takes 10 minutes to do an oil change & filter".

You must really get peeved when you go to a popular Yum-Cha & queue up and the seating person says "Table ready 5 minutes". You know she doesn't mean 5 minutes - she means 30 minutes

Did you ask them to replace the DSG oil filter also? Because they will not do it unless you ask for it to be changed.

    Synpower is Valvoline engine oil.

I'm assuming the $1200 is dealer pricing?

    Cheers bud.

Yeh dealer pricing. Don't think I'll go dealer again now that my warranty is up.

Can most mechanics reset the service milage on the dash so it displays how far until next service? Or is a VW dealer program needed?

I can reset them with a cheap handheld scanner.

I'd assume others can as well.

you don't want "most mechanics". You want somebody that has a clue. There must be somebody up that way (maybe Tweed Heads or Byron?)
