Red face Fridge for T5 Transporter Campervan

    Howdy,

I've done heaps of research about fridges etc. Am now down to size for my camper conversion. I had decided on a 50 liter, but am getting advice from a Retailer (no vested interest as he has all sizes) saying the 50Litre Waeco is ridiculously small inside and that the 65 liter CRX is much more practical. I am cautious of course about the fact I'm putting it in a VW T5 so space is a consideration. The bigger one is shorted but deeper..pokes out 545 mm.
There aren't any T% campers up here in Darwin that I could just sticky beak in.... what do people have in their as far as size goes with space limitation? It will be going behind drivers seat in the typical configuration with cabinets and with rock & roll bed.

    Thanks

    Adrian

I'll take a pic of mine, but i didnt see the point in getting a waeco 50L when the foot print of a 50L is the same as a 65L! I love my 65L it sits behing the drivers seat with enough room to get out my second slider! Only time i would have chose a 50 is if the extra height of the 65 was an issue!!! Good luck mate!!!

That's great, a pic would be good. The measurements I have show the depth to be bigger, but probably negligible (25mm).
I'd love to see some others. Thanks heaps

I'm looking at the CRX 65, it looks as you may be able to recess the fridge in the cavity between the outer skin and internal panel.

There is a small lip on the floor that may need to be removed., ill be looking at this on the weekend

I thought of that as an option...every little bit of space helps. Would love to see a pic or tow and your thought of how the fit of the 65 went.

    Hi Adrian
I have just had a conversion done and I got the Waeco CRX 65 L

I did consider the 80L but I managed to fit in an awesomne cutlery draw above the fridge with the difference in height.
The size is up to you but it gives you more room, and you use what you have in the end.
I was limited because I went for the rear 3 seater option which limited my cabinet space.
Definitely go for a CRX, the newer model Waeco over the CR range as they have a removable freezer which is great.
I have attached some photos for reference so you can decide yourself.

Hi Jezza and Syncrotek, in the near future I'm looking at upgrading my 1996 T4 2.0L part-Trakka campervan to something a little more modern and I'm interested to hear more about your conversions?

Finally got around to insulation and sound deadening this area, so i though id post some pic's to show the recessed area,

There is about 75mm at the bottom and this reduces the higher you go, and the bottom steel lip has to be removed to allow the fridge to be able to recess the fridge, unless you build a base for it to clear the lip.
