Nice.
I replaced my stock radio after the dealer replaced it 3 times under the warranty, because of the CD payer failure,
with this one and I'm very happy with it. No moving parts in that radio at all.

After ten years of crashing about in the country, the OE speakers expired...well at least one did!
A quick trip to Autobarn, some advice and a car park check sorted out some replacements. At $130 a pair they are not cheap but they do fit and they sound rather better than the stock ones.
TS-D1002R 10cm 2-way Coaxial Speakers (110W) - Pioneer Speakers & Subs
All that was required to fit them was to break off one tab (inside top on both drivers) and bend up another. Then screw them straight into the dash plastic. The original dash grill then pops straight back into place...seemingly unmolested.
Now all I need to do is get the dying Blaupunkt head unit out and replace it with a media player like this one MVH-1450UB Multimedia Tuner with iPod Direct Control, front USB port and 2 RCA Pre-out. - Pioneer Car Stereo - Digital Media Receiver except I put the Blaupunkt in a little too well and it doesn't want to come out on one side!!!
Nice.

Nice one Seano.
I might be interested in that too, as I currently have 2 tweeters taped to the dash and it I don't really like the look of it. Can you definitely say that the sound is better then stock or probably more the same as before?
I would agree with Seano as I have also replaced all the speakers in our two T5,s and my sons T4 all with Pioneer gear , the dash mount ones give excellent separation as the windscreen acts as a deflector sending the high frequencies straight to the listners ears . I agree with Transporter about "some " of the factory headunits branded Blaupunkt but made in some asian factory our first T5 had such a unit with a fold down front for loading the CD it fell off within 3 weeks of new from memory and tore off the ribbon wires , did not even bother VW with it as I could see its quality was a bit ordinary for my taste . I have sinced fitted double din units to the T5,s and a retracting 7 inch screen single din unit to the T4 .
i swapped the speakers in my new t5 within about a week of having it. drilled out the old speakers from the doors, made up some mounts and fitted some 10cm splits and put tweeters in the dash. fitted an amp under the seat and have a 12" sub in a box in the back. put sound mat all in the doors and walls with carpet all in the back. sounds the nuts without looking like something from pimp my ride
The sound is definitely better than stock. The new drivers can handle more output from the head unit without breaking up, they're clearer and a bit tighter. If you want bass then you'll need something more - in this respect they are not a big up on the stock units.
Frankly, the stock T4 speakers from the 2001 build are exceptional for what they are....and what mine have been through. The placement on the windscreen helps the audio no end as well. But these Pioneer units are much nicer...
The replacement head unit can wait I reckon...can't decide whether I want USB in the front or via a line through the glovebox. Also there is the minor issue of a 500 folder limit on the Pioneer (I have over 2000 folders thus far) so it can't access even half a complete music collection even if it does fit on one 250GB SSD....

Saw this one in my travels on the interweb...liked the look for sure and certain. Specs also suggest a 500 folder limit...but it doess AAC files and has Bluetooth. Might have to simply accept the folder limit and move on...the price on the FZ409A without the Bluetooth... looks good...
Hey Pete have a look at my sons T4 scroll down to see pics after the photos we fitted tweeters into the dash as he initially wanted them on the side pillar trims . I did the whole job on his van myself electric sliding sunroof electric windows with auto close whn the doors are remote locked cruise control plus full custom fit out with sound proofing through out every panel , plus a rear 15 inch DVD player .
