Extra Seating- Transporter van

Hey everyone,
I've got a 2014 Transporter that I need to add a seat too. I am heading up to byron bay in july from melbourne with a couple mates and have only the two single bucket seats.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and what the cheapest way to go is? Also as the vans come out in either two or three front seat format, do you need to get in engineered?

Any seating changes will need an engineering certification , third party insurance is the main reason . One suggestion I can make is for a single seat is to buy a single front bucket seat from a T5 van . Then you can use the factory seat belt points on the side walls near the c pillar . I fitted a removable single seat to our van , during the fit out I used the appropriate reinforcing plates and permanently fixed them to the underside of the floor ensuring they complied with the relevant regulations . This meant I can unbolt the seat in a minute or so and then leave the area clear for other things . The seat belt buckle is mounted to the seat base and as long as you use the correct high tensile bolts it can be certified as was mine . When the seat is out I put some trim plugs into the holes in the carpet and floor so it looks neat . The seatbelt sash and lap part stays attached to the side wall .

There is a place here in Brisbane called All Van Mod's they had the plates and seat belt required . Note here I used to do these sort of modifications for twenty years so it was easy for me to do the job . I also held the appropriate certification required by Qld Transport to certify my own work . You will find in other states that you will need to get certification from an authorised fitment centre , or take the chances that you don't have an accident or get pulled over by the police or transport officers .

Ah ok righto thanks, I think i'll just take it somewhere to get done, I know I can do it properly but don't wanna risk it, with the insurances and cops.
