    Entering Radio Code

    Seems strange that i couldn't find a thread for this already (I did search), but here goes;
    I found what I believe to be the security code for my '97 Transporter with original radio/cassette player but i'm stuffed if I can work out how it's supposed to be entered.
    It's a 6 digit code. The display shows a small 1 in the top left corner and a larger number bottom right. If I press the '1' station preset button 3 times, that gets me to the first digit of the code...now what? it just sits there. I can press the other non-preset buttons and nothing happens, but if I press another preset, the large number keeps rising to 6.
    Perhaps a visit to the dealership is in order unless someone smarter than me can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

    I know I should be upgrading to some fancy, all flashing, all dancing, solar powered, mpwhatever player thingy, but I'm not. There is a CD stacker under the seat at least.

    Thanks for any help offered.

    Its been a long time and I may be wrong but I think you use the station search arrow buttons to input the subsequent numbers.

    Not calling you a numpty or anything but I worked it out without the manual - if i did - you can! just keep mashing the buttons!!

    This from the manual for my original equipment Eurovox cassette radio in my 1998 T4:

    1. Turn unit on. '1' will appear in the display. Most vehicles require ignition to be in the accessories position.

    2. Via the 6 memory address buttons enter code.

    3. If code is entered correctly, the unit will become operational. Refer to the owners manual for correct operation and prgramming.

    4. If incorrect code is entered '2' will appear in the display.

    5. Enter code number again. If incorrect code is entered again, '3' will appear in the display indicating code to be entered again.

    6. If incorrect codes are entered for the third time '---' will appear in the display. The unit is now locked out and must remain connected to power for one hour before another attempt to enter the code can be made again.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks for your help. Who'd have thought it would be that simple? I was waaaay overthinking it. I've renewed my membership to the Numpty association for another year.
