I would have thought that too. But the ebay ad says $99 to AU. And you could negotiate an additional price for not doing changeover (they blow up so often they can't be worth that much). Supplier has excellent reviews although none I could see for motors. At $3000 for a rebuilt motor it would have to be worth a look? I know I would compared to an unknown local second hand or 10k new from VW (what I was last quoted by my vw mechanic).
Just had the head replaced as there was a crack behind a valve. 5k...

Well good luck and hopefully that's then end of it.
For me I think I'll explore fully the import options when my time comes. Fortunately I have another vehicle so can afford to be off the road for a long period.
Yeah. We couldn't as we transport my sister in law in a wheel chair.
I hope that is all that is wrong. Looking at a dpf /egr delete when the funds allow.

So got the van back but feels like it's running low or no boost. Where it used to chug along in 5th, it's now in 4th and revving it's tits off.
Just drove Sydney Culburra Canberra, averaged 12l/100 to Culburra picked up a camper trailer, jumped to 14 and couldnt get up the hill to Goulburn with 2 adults, 2 kids and fairly empty trailer/van without struggling to get over 110kmh on the uphill.
Is there a way to check if both turbo are working?
It also has a dpf light on. It's come on before during Hwy driving but usually gone off. Now it's on about 5 mins from starting and stays on. I know if it stays on the dpf is stuffed, could this be the problem with the power? If so anyone know of a good dpf/egr delete in Sydney?

Ours did that after some work on the engine , turned out to be one of the small vacumm hoses had a split on the underside whch was causing the engine to lose power , once I fixed the split it was fulll steam ahead just like new almost .
Thanks. Ok.. So vacuum hunting we go...
Any clues as to what normally goes? I can hear a hissing near the air box??

Sounds like you on the right track ours was making the same sound , just took a few minutes to feel around each hose especially near where they connect to a plastic connector which was where ours was leaking . Hope thats the same result for you , those hoses exposed to high temps will over time become brittle and will split easily if disturbed .
