Hi All,
Have recently purchased a 2008 model T5 Ex ambulance. It doesn't have a cover underneath covering the engine etc as my T4 did. Can anyone tell me if it should have? It has a soft slightly furry cover over the sump only which looks too clean to have been without protection from the elements, even with only 45,000km on the clock, to my mind anyway. Any advice greatly appreciated.
My T5 has a large plastic cover from the front bumper to the gearbox. There is no way you can even see the engine. It is a 2006 model but cant imagine them deleting this in later models surely.
They all did up until the T5GP (~2010-onwards), where only the Multivan got it.
If it's missing, it's probably because someone either trashed all the bolt holes trying to put it back on, or just simply left it off.

Ooops, didn't look at the model year

Mine is a common old T5 transporter and it has it.
Sorry, my MY07 Transporter definately has one as I had the dealer find two new bolts to refit one side.
My '07 crewvan didn't have one, nor did 2 other '07 crewvans nearby. I had to buy one for my van. These were all 1.9l motors. Maybe the smaller motors didn't get them.
I'd pick one up at a wreckers.
My Kombi Beach has one and the engine is pristine underneath thanks to it. It should help a little with noise too - mine has sound deadening on the engine (top) side of the cover.
Theoretically should get slightly better fuel consumption by presenting a clean profile to the air stream.
