The latest DSG 7 speed is a non service item and is having glitches and somne have reqd mechatronics or clutches, the transporter is back to the original DSG with an extra gear an clutch, which is a very good box and does req servicing. i have the Passat 4mo with DSG and coupled to that is all the 4wd set up and i love it, i must admit im not easy on it either and have had endless fun, couple of weeks ago in the dust in stanthorpe was tops, and as a normal daily as umai naa says repeatedly its not an auto so treat it that way, lost count of how many cars ive done with DSG and havent had a major drama yet, if it had an 09G or 09K box then thats a different story. Porsche have it in PDK form and its rated tp 1000NM, cant be bad. Thus far not keen on the 7 speed pass car box but the commercial i do like. I also like the latest engines , not before time , detested the Geardriven one, everyones different, and yeah they are torquey but after havig to fix MANY headaches ill give it a miss. The latest common rail stuff is very nice, havent had any dramas personally yet and ive seen a few way over 150k. Sealed for life, any tranny in my opinion that means lifetime of warranty, that is with straight Auto by the way and i could wrote a book about that im sure.

Nice insight Jimmy I also hold onto hope that VW will see my side of the dilemma we are in as ours is now reached the dangerous level just decides to start slipping when you go to take off usual result is being in the middle of an intersection and having to quickly throw to neutral and turn off turn on and its fine until the next middle of intersection or corner turn . Its like playing russian roulette with other cars not very funny , the wife will not drive the van and as we have two disabled kids in wheelchairs the van is needed for any unseen emergencys . Its not like we don,t have the money to fix it its the principle of the matter I am trying to get sorted with VW . The strange thing that I still do not have an answer to is why it jst decides to slip without warning and why does turning it of and restarting fixes it , there has to be an electrical glitch as obviously its not mechanical , the VW software update has only made it worse than before .

Maybe its time to start a 'Sealed for life auto' topic rather than taint the DSG thread with the problems of the auto transmissions.
As mentioned earlier, I am not aware of any Transporters with DSG failures.

There are quite a few AT threads.
Some people just don't bother to post in the right thread!
