    Not sure the Transporter has active cleaning of the DPF.
    Perhaps the crafter might...
    I only say this as I had the DPF light come up on the MFD a few days ago.
    I checked the manual, which said to drive for 15 mins in 4th gear, above 70km.
    Low and behold --> it worked (I did go into 5th & 6th at higher speeds, but essentially high revs)
    Warning light now off.

    What you describe above IS active DPF regeneration. The warning light comes on if the normal, no light, 40% active regen doesn't work and it gets up to 60%, then the light comes on and it won't quit regenning till it gets back down. If you turn it off mid "light on" regen, it will start again on regen next engine start, from cold!

    All VAG SiC DPF's have active regens built in at set % fills.
