    Day Light Running lights

Not for me but trying to help a friend , his T5.1 2012 has DLRs installed and wired but they don't work . Anyone have some ideas where there maybe a relay as I have tried all the fuses even ran my launch diagnostics but could not find any way of activating them , it did show the left and right one but when I try and activate them I get no response .

by DRL installed and wired you mean what exactly?

DRL on the T5.1 is incorporated in the headlight as standard, and should not be installed separately.

The bulbs on mine used to blow all the time on mine until I got some cheap LEDs ex China.
As soon as one would blow, the other would follow not long after.

The originals weren't blown just did not work . I see two sets of fuses so need to dig a bit deeper , I suppose I could bypass the vans system and use a relay to power them up and use 12v signal from the fuse box when ignition is on .

Are you 100% certain that the globes are OK? Have you pulled them out and checked them on a battery? The originals have a lifespan of 15 minutes.

Can you post up a photo of the entire headlight? Is the single bulb (H4) or dual bulb version (H7 + H15)?

Also, has it worked before? Or did he buy the car with it not working? Some people do turn DRL off with VCDS coding, could that have been done previously?

In my Amarok (similar design) the H15 bulb (could be the H7 need to check) doubles as the DRL .... so as per syncro's question do all the bulbs work (low beam and high beam)?

Brand new led bulbs now fitted and the old ones were tested working out of the van .
