Yeah it looks tough to remove. I need a new drinks holder, but am unable to locate a replacement one easily - as one of the cupholders has snapped.
Well today I saw a first for me.
My new GPS was not charging in the cigarette lighter socket. I thought "oh no", the GPS 12V adapter has given up. I tried my backup adapter - no go too.
OK before I grabbed the multimeter I note that the ring light around the socket is lit so obviously the fuse has not blown.
I look into the actual 12V socket and the contact has fallen apart!
Job for the weekend - to dig through the manual on how to take the ashtray/drinks holder module out and get to the socket

I picked one up a from wreckers a few years ago as mine had the broken drink holder. Cost about $50 from memory. Was not to hard to pull out but cant remember exactly.

It is a matter of all of the lower trims off and then 2 x torx retaining the actual holder.
(picked up a replacement from the wreckers as you did. Fantastic condition $65.)
My drink holder broke recently so it was an easy fix for me the holder just pulls out its a bit hard at the very end as there are two stops but it does release main problem is the was no connector for the light/lighter wires so I left it connected . What had broken was the top piece of plastic that holds the pin for swivelling part so I cut a small piece of thin body steel drilled the hole for the pin and two extra holes for some new screws countersunk the holes and ground down the small area where it was to be mounted at the top as clearance is critical the two new screws were screwed into the surrounding plastic of the unit refitted and it works perfectly . Time ten minutes material costs 50cents . Howard Forgot to mention no trims had to be removed all done without any other parts removed .

Howard the connector is on the other side of the housing which is accessed by undoing the 2 screws mentioned once the lower trim is removed. 3 Pins +/- and a + for the light.
I fixed this el cheapo used a modified Jigsaw blade and some araldite, could not get the tray out so went the easy way.
I just sawed back the plastic with a large hacksaw blade where the broken piece was and glued the Jigsaw blade in place, blade had two holes at end so i cut it back down to the larger hole. This was on the RH side the LH side would be harder as there is a lot more plastic to remove, if the tray come out it would be easier.
Does anyone know ho to actually remove the tray?? I took of the lower trims but still could not remove it??
