Coolant colour,..?

I recall when I got my 2006 T5 back from a oil cooler fix that the coolant water was slightly pinkish,...
After a short trip (300km) i had to top it up with approx 600ml. I used tap water.

I got to mention that the van sits in the back driveway all the time and is only used for weekend trips down the coast.

After a doing another approx 500km, I check the coolant level and it hasn't dropped but it's dark rusty red/brown looking.!!

Should I flush the coolant/water out and refill it, to see if it occurs again,... maybe it left over much from the oil cooler service,..?

Any ideas,..?

8 years worth of sediment disturbed, by the system being worked on. You could flush it out if you want to. Not sure how successfully you can clean it out though.
