Yes your probably right but as Australia has a landmass as big as the USA [ or bigger ] I can see the need for a big bore engine for the distances we drive , I,ll go back to the T5 in 2005 when a mate bought one in dual cab spec for towing his trailer . It failed miserably because of the overstated towing capacity ment it could not pull away on a slight hill without slipping the clutch . These days with all the advances in tech a big V8 can achieve some pretty good fuel numbers . As for the environment I havent seen too many stories about petrol cheating software needed to achieve emission targets like the diesels have !!

I'll tell you what though, my Crafter can get more power out of that engine on Cruise Control than I can!

Wouldn,t the Crafter have a higher gearing to compensate for the bigger body ?

Sure, but what I meant was that there seems to be more engine fiddling than just the throttle with cruise control.
I can get better economy but it can pull up a hill quicker than I can!

So, are you happy with the Crafter?

I think I know what you mean by pulling uphill with cruise control on , the throttle pedal would have to be banged hard to the floor to get the full acceleration that the engine is capable of , the cruise control would electronically make the engine respond directly at the throttle body rather than manual input from the driver . I know in our T5.1 the response after cancelling cruise and then engaging is very quick .

    Yes.
It has a bit less get up and go than the Transporter and uses more fuel but I make more money!
There are some little issues but nothing major so far.
Will have the 100k service next month in under a year............VW are not saying what happens then!

Yeah......even on full throttle up a hill I can't get the grunt that CC can.
