    Car salesmen and weekend fixes

    Yesterday had a look at the T5 we are probably going to buy out of interest sakes I asked a rough guide for a trade in on our 2004 2.5 lt Tiptronic , well I suppose I asked for it but what I overheard the wholesaler stunned me , the salesman was explaining to him about the van and he asked was it an automatic when he was told yes I heard him say "I wouldn,t take a chance " salesman came back and offered between $4000 and $8000 for the van . Well if that is not an indication that even the sales departments know what the T5 with Tiptronic are like then good luck with any one who thinks that their van is worth something as a trade , as it clearly means that dealers don,t want second hand ones regardless of low kays etc and good condition .If its auto your van is considered worthless almost . Any way we will sell it privately and just buy the new one outright .

    The weekend was not a total waste I removed the heater blower from my work van stripped it down resurfaced the armature and resurfaced the brushes works like a treat again . Just as I was refitting the fan I noticed a couple of leaves inside the housing and realized there was a filter inside removed it by just two screws and wow was it dirty !!!! lots of compressed air later and a quick soap rinse clean and now I have restored the airflow through the vents to original levels . Its amazing how much the dirt and black residue was blocking the airflow .

    That cabin filter should be replaced every 30,000km or 2 years whichever comes first.
    Lazy bugger, whoever serviced your van.

    Yes would agree it was very blocked I suppose as it was such a gradual airflow reduction over the years it wasn,t until we had a sudden hot spell last week and I need the aircon on and it just wasn,t putting out much air , so now all good and it will be remembered from now on .

    Pollen filter every 60K in my handbook; 2008 Multivan.
    Fuel filter every 60K
    Engine Intake Airfilter every 30K.

    Good result.
    Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

    Disregard the book.

    The actual schedule for the Australian market says Pollen filter every 30,000klms or 24 months, and 45,000 klms or 36 months for the Air Filter.

    x2 the 30k interval is pretty long too really, they get in a bit of a state, rather than washing it it should be replaced with a good carbon one

    Sorry my mistake:

    Engine Intake Airfilter was changed at 45K.
    Pollen filter was cleaned at 30K - but not replaced. Perhaps it wasn't too bad. It will probably get replaced at next 60K service.
    Fuel filter every 60K.
