Picked up the faithful steed yesterday looks just like new again , panel shop replaced the whole drivers side of the van with a new outer skin . Best part is that all of my previous "äccidents" have been erased so the crushed sill under the drivers door Fixed / the many times removed drivers door mirror replaced / rear tail light drivers side replaced / rear tailgate partly crushed at the bottom fixed [ well the tailgate was pretty dinged up in the runaway anyway ] new rear bumper had many scratches from loading / passengers side all repaired and painted which also had previous damage from an altercation with a gate post at a customers house . So now it looks like new so next some new signage from my good friend . Today I started to do a refit of the inside as I told the panel shop not to try and refit all the old sound proofing and inside trims as they were pretty jaded from ten years of use . Picked up some new side and floor carpeting so it will look and sound like a new van again will post some pics soon .
Ready for new soundproofing along side and the old carpet is being removed in readiness for new carpet its easy to see where equipment was stored and tied down to the floor .

Well after a slow start the van is back together accept for sign writing , I decided to replace the roof lining as the original grey trim was getting pretty grotty . During the week I was trying to pick up some nice royal blue velour but non of the suppliers had any in stock so I ended up going with black , I am glad I did it looks pretty cool against the grey plastic trims . The only token blue I had was just big enough for the two blank window trims , the plastic tubes are for my rubber marking templates . After a marathon effort I finished at 11pm last night so now all the shelving and tools compressor oh and the jucy 12inch subwoofers are back in place . Will post some more next chance .I centralised the interior lights never understood why VW offset the things , they look better in the middle .Oh for those with a keen eye may notice the sunglass holder light fitting from a VZ Commodore it fitted neatly as the original roof trim had to be modified to allow the sunroof to fit .

Mine was a 2005 build model so it was outside the recall .
