Can the 2nd row swivel seats be mounted in the front row in Multivan?

Hi folks, I just got a new Multivan 103kw and loving it.

I'm was wondering if 1 or both of the front row pilot seats can be replaced by the 2nd row rotating seats?

And if so, would those rotating seats still rotate when they are mounted in the first row (i.e. would the driver cabin be wide enough to allow them rotate)?

Has anyone done it, and can someone with little experience in these things (like myself do it?
Or should we take it to a VW dealer to do it for us (for a small fee I guess

If that can be done I am planning to get rid of the 2nd row (so carry 5 people not 7). It would really be handy for us because with the 2nd row gone, it'd provide lots of room at the back of the van, especially when we are camping; and when we rotate the front seats to face backwards it would still provide a good sitting area at the back, using the table in the middle

    Cheers.

You can not get the second row of seats to fit in the front but to achieve what you want you can buy swivel bases for the front seats.

Have a word with Multiplexman he was trying to swop his Beach seats that has the factory swivels fitted to them.

You can buy swivel bases from ebay in europe/UK but would cost you big money to ship here.

You will also have to alter the hand brake to get the seats to swivel should you buy the after market bases.

Hi Alex I saw this site the other day and the swivel bases they sell are much cheaper than the bases out of the UK. You'd like to think they're transport approved , but you never know. A question to ask I would think.

Like I said dont forget to get the hand brake part.
It lowers the handbrake to allow the rotation of the seat.
The ones from Just Kampers are FASP ones and they do have the TUV approval but the OZ ADR stuff I have now idea about (like most people!)
The FASP ones are very good quality.
    Just a word of warning!!!
These ones will lift your seat up about 30mm, Does not sound much but put a fat book on your seat and now sit on it....
It really does make a difference, I had a box on the floor for the wife, to bring back the comfort of the Multi when we lived in the UK.

Thanks guys for the quick replies, appreciated.
@Rob, If I want to replace only the front passenger seat with the 2nd row swivel seat, would I still have to change the hand brake?
I'm guessing that the hand brake should not be in the way for the passenger seat and as long as the seat fittings/nuts/bolts and the rails match there shouldn't be any problems with that.
If that works it'd save me the trouble of searching/buying new seats and worrying if they are safe enough etc.
    Thanks again, Alex

    Alex,
If you only want to swivel the passenger you can leave the handbrake alone.
You can not use any of the parts from the middle row to make the front seat swivel.
None of the parts are interchangeable.
(Ok you probably could but with loads of work.)
The easiest way is to purchase a FASP swivel from someone like Just Kampers and away you go.
Like I said do take into consideration the seat will move up 30mm or so.
You could buy a VW T5 Transporter Swivel Seat Base with Lockable Safe | eBay UK and the height would stay the same.
Just a thought cost could be a problem.
(I also note its not got Oz crash test certificate.)

Hi guys just a short one here I used to fit these swivel seat bases when I had my old business . They were originaly designed for disabled people to help them get in and out by turning the seat into the open door space . They do raise the seat in height and they do get a little wobbly with continued use and age . And you do need an engineers report to satisfy the authorities and insurance . Howard
