The California Beach is just releasing overseas the difference is the pop up roof with a bed

The Australian Kombi Beach is way too expensive for anyone other than old people to buy and they are not going to like it. I was looking for a 9 seat Kombi when I bought my Mutivan but after drivng the Beach and the Multivan there is no comparison in driving pleasure and I went for the Multivan, even with the 7 seats that won't seat my entire family of 8. If all the older kids want to go somewhere we just end up having to take two vehicles, but that is very rare and they all have their own cars anyway.

I like the English translation from the German in your posts, Ben. Is it done by computer or something? It is worse than the Japanese English we used to get years ago!! Very interesting info on this camper and the Multivan Concert though.

I like the look of the Beach with pop up roof so can you tell me where you found these details please?
We have a T4 with pop up roof at the moment.

We are in the prosess of moving from UK to OZ and have been looking at bring VW with us or get one out there...

I could order a van in UK with KPH clocks but what other thing would have to be inorder for it to pass customs etc?

I heard that it has to be right hand drive does this apply to yhe sliding door?
What about head lamps?
Any info of anyone out there would be good!

All I can suggest is that you drive both of them. The Multivan Comfortline is hardly any more expensive than a Kombi (especially with the discount I got with mine from the dealer) but the difference is huge. The Kombi line is basically a tarted up commercial vehicle but the Multivan is properly modified for people use. It is quieter, both engine and road noise, better suspension, much better engine (128kw instead of 96), many luxury features thrown in etc. Have a look at the difference in real street prices and what you get for the extra money and then drive both to see if you would be happy with a Kombi nine seater or Beach.

I am very happy with my Multivan and I was never completely happy with my T4 Transporter converted to an 8 seater because of the things that I mentioned above.

Whatever you do, VW TDI is the way to go but check the Multivan as well as the Kombi.
